Glenn has always said that although this time in our lives with four hyperactive hypersensitive lunatics living under our roofs is a little stressful he is more worried about 10 years in the future. A future that contains three teenage girls. He’s so worried that every time we go to the hardware store he no longer see that potential for a really cool piece of garden furniture in a plank of wood, no he ways up how well it fits in his grip and weather or not it might scare off a teenage boy when wielded erratically above his head. I guess its a father thing, we go through labour, they go through stress.

I had the TV on this after noon to catch up on the happenings of the world while the kids were outside putting the last remaining handfuls of sand back in the sand pit. The sand was the main reason the TV was on actually, it was a last ditch attempt to blank out for a moment so I didn’t completely blow my stack over the bucket load of sand that earlier flew through my lounge room window coating everything inside the room.

Anyhoo, I managed to get 5 minutes of mindless teenage panda watching (actually headlining the news around here) before Lilly joined me. She was being sweet and I was feeling forgiving so we cuddled on the lounge for a minute.  The news reader announced that we have another creepy freak in the area and that this one kissed a 4 year old boy at Maccas then ran off.  It was just one line then she was on to the next story about the Italian PM being bashed by a souvenir. Lilly looked up just as the screen was filled with an image of the bloody faced politician. She stared for a bit then turned to me and said:

"Is that the boy who got KISSED?"

I’m only glad Glenn wasn’t here or the answer would have been:

"Yes Honey that’s what kissing does, tears your face apart, and you just remember that 10 years from now when some big sod leans in slowly"

Ha! I think all normal dads feel that way about their daughters. After all they do know what teenage boys are thinking about.
