I feel a little like I’ve stuffed up my family’s life this weekend. We were meant to have the combined party for Alanah and Lillian, we were meant to shave Glenn’s head for the Worlds Greatest Shave but instead I threw up on Thursday and spent the next two days in bed. Total Mother fail…..mothers are not allowed to get sick…….well not on their daughters birthday weekend anyway.

Not all is lost we are just postponing our lives for another week and the girls are surprisingly understanding.  I don’t thing they mind spinning the excitement out for as long as possible.

I did manage to make The Girls a special pancake breakfast on Lilly’s actual birthday. The requested pancakes shaped in their initials.

Which brings me to my next Mum Fail. Can you believe I named my daughter LES. I just see Lillian Elizabeth but when I brought the plate down Lani said “Why’d you write Less on her plate, what is she less of???”

We spent the rest of the morning thinking of nasty things our little Lessa could have less of than normal people (You know like she’s Supper Lessa), less bad attitude, less grumpy, less laziness…….I think I managed to leave a lasting positive memory….maybe.

But at least poor Lessa got pancakes Lani requested the same and I promised I’d make them. Then I opened the fridge on her birthday morning to find no eggs….can’t believe I didn’t check…Total Mum Fail.

Oh and before I go and try and make my daughter feel special with corn flakes I have to mention that the MY Kitchen Rules that we were at the filming of that I wrote about in THIS POST (Read it if you need a good laugh) is on TV tonight.

Channel 7 at 7:30 or check out the My Kitchen Rules website I’m pretty sure they post the videos up there. We’ll be watching, the kids are all really excited I’m trying to prepare them because I’m pretty sure all the footage from our family is x rated.

  1. I certainly have my share of parenting fails! I think your pancakes turned out great. I sometimes try to make numbers and letters, and then we have a good laugh trying to figure out what letter it is actually supposed to be!

Ha Ha thanks I didn’t look at it that way. I WIN at letter shaping yay!

  3. Tabitha says:

Sounds like you did an awesome job considering! Mums are allowed to fail, though personally I wouldn’t call being sick a fail – thats just one of those things. Get well soon!!

  4. Katie says:

I think we have all had days like that. We too made the “initial” mistake. Grace is G.A.G.
Oh well, at least our girls will change their last names one day :0)

  5. Sarah Slaven says:

Ha Ha that’s funny we have to promote the friendship so we can have L.E.S G.A.G ing
