We go to a homeschooling group once a week. It is a great place for the kids to tear about with other homeschooling kids and a great place for their mummies to debrief and share ideas with other homeschooling mums. The average age of the group is probably around 7 and as the kids are getting older the coordinator has started organizing little activities for them to do, this week was pottery and painting. The clay is air drying so we don’t need to find access to a kiln.

Lilly made a robot and things (I’ll really have to watch the skinny arms on her robot)

Alanah made a butterfly a snail and a turtle

Eli made a dog kennel with a dog inside and a dog bowl and a man. He had the whole thing in his head and was really upset when left to try by himself because he couldn’t get the idea in his head to transfer to the clay. I showed him how to flatten the clay and use the tools to cut it into shape then join it with water, he very patiently learnt the technique and is pleased with the end product. I’m thrilled by his effort, he worked hard at it for a long time and didn’t give up or flip out when things didn’t run perfectly.

This afternoon the girls are started to learn piano, Eli hasn’t shown an interest yet. They followed the first couple of lessons on finger placement easily. Then I let them muck around with the piano getting acquainted with the sounds it makes till Eli screamed about the noise and we went off to play quieter games.
